About Me

Hello everyone and welcome to my e-portfolio! This is a space where I will be sharing my thoughts on readings, field experiences, and any other topics related to my journey towards becoming an educator. I am going into my fourth year of the Secondary Education program at the University of Regina, with a major in English and a double minor in Biology and General Science. I am also working on a concurrent Arts degree and plan to come back to the U of R to pursue an Inclusive Education certificate. I grew up on a farm just south of Windthorst, SK, a town of under 300 people.

Growing up, I never knew what career path I would choose. Through high school, I consistently jumped from one idea to the next while my friends were all doing research into which schools had the most to offer for their chosen program. I finally decided to come to the U of R to study Sciences, with no real plan after that. I felt lost my first year. I searched through careers and other programs, never finding one that felt right for me. I decided to take the one education class that was offered to students in other faculties. Two weeks into the class I was applying to transfer into the Faculty of Education. And I haven’t looked back since. Finally I had found a career path that I could invest my passions and interests into.

Although my main areas of study are English and Sciences, I also have interests in the areas of Treaty Education, Outdoor Education, and Education Technology. I believe that these three areas can, and should, be incorporated into every subject area. Other hobbies of mine include listening to and playing music, gardening, hiking, volunteering, camping, and cooking.

Now that you know a bit more about me and how I decided to follow this path that life has presented me with, I hope you explore and enjoy reading about my learning and experiences. Feel free to reach out and contact me as well! I would love to hear your thoughts and stories!

Until then, cheers.
